Stormer and sidekick Micron cannot hold back Russian advances on the ground in Ukraine
Wed 7:36 am +00:00, 14 May 2025All the acres of newsprint, years of video time and news reporting are as nothing compared to the military situation on the ground in Ukraine. Stormer can storm around with his sidekick Micron threatening Moscow with missile attacks, satellite-directed by the UK or France, with SAS commanding Ukrainian forces on the ground, but if Ukraine is losing territory at between 10 and 100 square kilometres a day in crucial battle zones, as is happening in May 2025, the words of the cocaine-snorting armchair generals are hollow.
The real situation on the ground is never well reported in the main media which goes almost entirely for emotive inaccuracies – otherwise known as propaganda. The defence ministries of both Ukraine and Russia issue situational updates on an almost daily basis, but these are normally several days behind the actual events, partly as information in battlefields is ‘sensitive’ and also the propaganda war has ‘different’ requirements to immediacy.
There are fortunately characters working from home like Wyatt Lim in Singapore who assemble and manage frontline mapping based on geolocated videos issued by the units fighting and the drone operatives, and he accesses other reports from ‘trusted’ unofficial sources – along with defence ministry reports. He must be spending far too long sat down at his terminal each day, but his health doesn’t seem to be affected too badly. His skill at predicting events, as well as spotting propaganda fakes makes his output compelling, along with his surprisingly immature and charming sense of humour. In other words here is actual military intelligence, without political control messing up outputs.
Today his report is interesting showing that Russia is making shockingly good progress in key areas.
Why Russia would call a ceasefire at this point is hard to see, where three years of attritional fighting is starting to pay off, as Ukraine cracks, with stocks of shells run right down, and manpower getting thinner and less experienced by the day. The West stole Ukraine from the Russian sphere in 2014 with the Maidan coup d’etat in Kiev, shoed in a pro-western government and sent the elected Russian-favouring government running for their lives. The gains of that action were staggeringly profitable with the whole of Ukraine grabbed by NATO as Ukraine’s armed forces fell under weatern command. No wonder the west is desperate to make peace now, to secure the theft of Ukraine successfully carried out eleven years ago, but now looking highly insecure as Russia has come back fighting more effectively than the Neocons expected.
All the negotiations since 2014 have proved fakes, such as The Minsk Accords designed merely to stop Russia from doing anything to resist NATO’s daily killings of Russians in Ukraine which numbered in the tens of thousands before Putin ‘invaded’.. Russia tried to avoid war but with Kiev about to attack NovoRossiya and the Donbas in 2021 with overwhelming force to finish off the Donbas militias, it was obvious that Russia was the ultimate target of NATO’s military moves and Putin had to act, whether Russia was ready or not.
Russia was militarily and economically still very weak in 2014, but has since redeveloped the old Soviet armed forces into a modern fighting machine, equipped with the necessary quantties of munitions and the better quality in many cases, although on occasions still bureaucratic. Russia decided to fight an attritional war with western satellite systems like Starlink reporting all movements of troops straight to NATO making it impossible to achieve surprise. The effect after three years of grinding down Ukraine’s armed forces is that there is less and less strength left, and Russia can start taking ground on a daily basis without suffering large casualties. American satellite support is also less reliable under Trump than it was under Biden. The Europeans try to fill the gap but so far with no visible results. Russia has anti-satellite warfare capabilities but hesitates to use these as the political effects could be devastating with all informational requirements of trade travelling via satellite.
The war could get a lot worse in its economic effects than it has done so far if satellites started being shot down.
