NATO threat to defecting reindeer

There are more reindeer in Lapland in Finland then humans – around 250,000 in total.  They spend the short summer months in the wild feeding themselves, but come winter with only three hours of sunlight a day, and little to eat they head back inside the high enclosures and accept feed from man.

That at least is the narrative tourists are given on their ‘Find Santa’ tours over the Christmas period.

The locals admit that the animals need herding with quad bikes, and some of the herd is unwilling to be driven inside the enclosures.  So it’s not quite as voluntary as it is made to sound in the PR.

That bit isn’t too bad but it’s when the fact that all 250,000 reindeer are vaccinated ‘to control pests’ that one’s suspicions and scepticism rise somewhat.

Ancient woodland is less prevalent than it was when reindeer survived winter eating lychen off ancient trees, and had no need for vaccinations to fend off parasites.

The reindeer herds, it should be recalled, are not only employed to pull sleighs on the snow by the elves, but also are a huge resource of food.

Food worldwide is coming under attack as the depopulationists target all potential sources.  Trees in Finland are felled for wood pellets for subsidised heating removing habitat and wasting the old trees, saving not one gram of carbon.

If I was a reindeer living in Sweden, Norway or Finland, I would consider obtaining a Russian visa and move across the border.  My life expectancy would increase somewhat if MHRNA vaccines are being introduced cutting reindeer fertility and health as surely as it culls human equivalents.   If I was a reindeer and I heard the roar of a quad bike or a snowmobile, I would move quickly away from its source.

Not all reindeer come in for winter feed and vaccination, the reindeer experts admit.  Hopefully the resistance will keep growing.

It’s my last day on the Find Santa expedition today.  Children could not be happier, and it’s good to see them toboganning as we used to do in England decades ago when weather was natural, shrieking with delight.  Food seems to be mostly imported here and reindeer is not on the tourist menu.  In the Disney narrative Santa needs them to deliver millions of presents in about a week’s time.  Tourists can drink beer at 20 Euros a pint.

I wonder how the Norwegians and Finlanders used to survive with so little sunlight in the winter, before vit D was available. I’ve also heard, and I have no proof, that the Shaman used to drink reindeer urine after they’d been feeding on “hallucinogenic”, fly agaric and similar “mushrooms” , it was claimed that this was where the flying reindeer pulled sled came from. As I said, I read it but have no proof, but it’s a good story for the grandkids.

I’ve seen the same story somewhere Ian. Decades ago, can’t remember where from either

Fascinating. The snow on the ground multiplies the available light and vitamin D by a big amount. The other gain from consuming animal excreta is the bacteria which increases the available range of enzymes.
