Iranian villagers armed with hunting rifles claim they shoot down helicopters
Mon 6:58 pm +00:00, 6 Apr 2026Shocking footage emerges from Iran’s mountainous regions where armed tribesmen reportedly opened fire on U.S. military helicopters during a high-risk rescue mission. The helicopters were searching for crew members of a downed American fighter jet when they came under rifle fire from local fighters. According to reports, the incident took place in remote areas of southwestern Iran, where tribal groups targeted Black Hawk helicopters involved in the operation. In one account, a tribesman described firing multiple shots at the helicopter, aiming at the pilot’s window and fuel tank, before the aircraft pulled away. The situation highlights the extreme danger on the ground, where even civilians and local fighters are actively engaging U.S. forces amid escalating tensions in the region.
TAP. All great for morale. No proof of any actual shootdown by rifle. The craft fly low to avoid missiles but come in range of bullets. It is possible that one could be shot down by a lucky bullet but the craft would have protection of fuel tanks and windows. The tribesmen are brave and know how to shoot as millions are veterans of the Iran/Iraq war.
