Russia sees Ukraine war as counter terrorism operation after Ukrainian attacks on civilian trains in Kursk region
Tue 4:09 am +00:00, 10 Jun 2025The designation of the military operation in Ukraine is not yet being upgraded from Special Military Operation to a declaration of war. But if Russia decides to advance to the Dnieper to capture Ukraine East of the river, and destroy the bridges over the Dnieper, the legal basis of the war will have to change. There are forty countries openly admitting they want to break up Russia.
Will NATO and these other countries stop attacking Russia if Russia advances to the Dnieper? There is no evidence that they will ever stop. There appears no willingness to make peace by the Western countries. If Russia destroys the Dnieper bridges, a large section of the Ukrainian army based west of the Dnieper will be able to continue military operations against Russia. It’s hard to see how the war will ever end, unless the whole of Ukraine is collapsed.
Will the US relax sanctions against Russia – and reopen air links? The US seems to want to move on from Ukraine.
Will Russia start destroying civilian infrastructure such as the Dnieper bridges (as NATO did in Kherson region)? They have the hypersonic missiles like the Oreshnik now which they didn’t have in 2022.
Kherson is not an ideal place to advance west as there are so many rivers heading down to the estuary. If Russia wants to advance beyond the Dniepr, the ideal place would be further north where there are less river and other obstacles like large forests. In the frustration in not finding a diplomatic solution, Russia has no choice but to move on. The Urinations and especially the UK don’t want peace as they can’t hold themselves together any other way.
Meanwhile the war gets ever more deadly as weaponry progresses.
“Russia Deploys New AI-Equipped Kamikaze Drone in Sumy Sector, According to Ukrainian Sources According to Ukraine’s military intelligence (GUR), Russia has developed and deployed a new strike drone powered by artificial intelligence, designated V2U. The drone reportedly has the ability to autonomously search for and select targets without human input. Ukrainian sources claim the V2U is already being used on the Sumy front, where Russian forces continue to advance.
