Amazing what people will believe, I used to believe it myself until about 10 years ago. Which reminds me of these 2 child tv shows from way back, first one throws it in your face, while the 2nd video is a touch more discreet, but watch carefully to see where they position the space rocket and the earths globe, hmmm.

While I am not 100% convinced by either the globe or flat earth, (to be honest there is a lot of tweaking needed to both models to convince me one way or the other,) I am as certain as I can be that we do not live on a ball that is flying through space while rotating ay 1.000 m/p/h, orbiting a sun at 66,000 m/p/h and flying along with the sun at 450.000 m/p/h then the whole galaxy is moving at 2 1/2 mill m/p/h, yet we feel no motion whatsoever. No, I cannot accept this model whatsoever
Thanks Kneepad, the first one is surprising for a kids show isn’t it? It risked accusations of “child abuse” by misinformation! Second is a bit more subtle, as you say
As a graduate physicist from way back then, I was indoctrinated comprehensively in my youth. Although I’d hesitate to call myself a real physicist because I knew in my first year at Uni that I wasn’t going to pursue physics as a career, one good look around the Physics Department told me that, all those geeks….
So I’m a bit of a fraud BSc, I crammed for the exams at the end of year 3, and got a sporting 2.2 with minimal knowledge, my bad! At least I got the Certificate which was my only aim by that time. Not to say that I haven’t kept up to some degree, in fact I’ve learned far more physics since Uni than I ever did whilst at it
I posted this as a bit of light relief from geopolitics tbh. Not looking to provoke anything, FE has caused friction here in the past. So I’m happy to accept your equivocal final para because I’m on that fence too. Despite a lot of head scratching stuff that I’ve seen here over the years
One thing that stood out to me was the 93% gravity claim at the supposed space station altitude, Ive not come across this before, If this is so, how do they get away with becoming all floaty, so to speak, that should not even be possible to begin to try and trick us with, or does the brainwashing work that well?
That is a very good point Kneepad
I’ve no idea even who makes that claim. I pulled the image from here:

The ISS is travelling so fast that, as it ‘falls’ its trajectory matches the curvature of the Earth, so it never hits the surface, and instead enters Earth orbit. The astronauts onboard are part of the same microgravity system so they too remain in free fall. Simple physics, really.
It orbits the Earth in 93 minutes according to Wiki. That is 17,100 miles per hour.
But it was stationary when it left the Earth, or at least it was moving with the Earth, which fully revolves in 24 hours. Earths circumference is ~25000 miles, so surface of Earth moves at just above 1000 miles per hour [theoretically at least]
So what made ISS travel so fast? How did it get up to 17 times it’s speed on the surface?
