Heaven forbid, what a numpty, which brings to mind that I’ve heard Lammy give some very articulate speeches but now wonder if those speeches were written by others.

His bio is deeply suspect. One of 5 siblings from Guyanese parents and an absent father

“He and his four siblings were raised solely by his mother after his father left the family when Lammy was 12 years old”

And yet he ends up at school here:

“Founded by King Henry VIII in 1541, The King’s (The Cathedral) School is a state-funded Church of England Cathedral Chorister School located in Peterborough, England. It is the chorister school for Peterborough Cathedral. Former pupils are known as Old Petriburgians.[2]”

Not many poor black kids from Archway in that school I expect

Something big is missing from his story

I think you posted his classic Mastermind vid on here once Ian

Guyana was British once, here’s why:

“The main economic activities in Guyana are agriculture (rice and Demerara sugar), bauxite and gold mining, timber, seafood, minerals, crude oil and natural gas. Guyana’s gold production in 2015 is 14 tonnes (14 long tons; 15 short tons).[43]

The discovery of major crude oil reserves off the Atlantic coast has since had a large effect on Guyana’s GDP since drilling began in 2019. GDP grew sharply (43%) through the COVID-19 pandemic year of 2020, and is anticipated to continue at a high level in 2021 (estimated at 20%). The non-oil sectors contracted as public health measures were in place to control the virus spread; the growth of GDP rests on the oil sector for these two years.[44] In December 2024, Guyana is projected to be the third largest per capita petroleum producing country in the world.[45]

Preservation of Guyana’s pristine forests has been a key component for receiving international aid through REDD programmes.”

It became “independent” in 1966. His parents might have been loaded, bet your life a few locals were in the colonial, and post colonial, eras

I did post his mastermind performance once before Pete. Marie Antoinette , and the pass on the Purple heart medal were two howlers, and While I’ll admit to being no mastermind myself, I felt they were being easy on him. I mean some of the questions are like What’s Pele’s next door neighbour’s daughter’s budgie called. I’ll agree that his past seems dubious. I also will say that I put this up for a laugh. I haven’t a clue re his ability at work, as I never follow them except on alternative media.
