If Lucy Letby is found to have been innocent and if the deaths of the babies were due either to faults at the hospital or the babies being so sick they would not have survived anyway, the parents will come storming out and say it was a whitewash.
I can understand their emotion, but they will likely not have followed the expert evidence and just want someone crucified for the deaths of their little ones. It has happened in other cases when a convicted murderer has been found to be completely innocent. The fact that someone is being held in prison with their life in ruins, due to a miscarriage of justice doesn’t seem to bother them.
I remember the case of a mother who was pilloried for having smothered her babies, when a few years later it was discovered that the reason for their deaths was innocent. Not only did she have to grieve alone, but when she was freed I believe she took to alcohol and died.
Easily sorted Belyi, whoever was responsible for her prosecution should be declared guilty and serve the rest of her sentence. The big guys seem happy enough to jail or kill Patsys, they might not be if it could backfire. Lucy Letby regardless of the decision will suffer from PTSD for the rest of her life. Baby killers get a rough time inside.
