I believe them
Mon 10:22 pm +01:00, 23 Sep 2024The government threatens to prevent perfectly legal tax avoidance. See post. I believe this as I have experienced this myself. I received a bonus to help pay for a factory building to employ fifty people thirty years ago. The bonus was paid in a way which avoided tax in a way that was entirely legal. The Revenue refused to stop demanding over £100,000 in tax despite lawyers stating that the scheme was 100% legal. It took the Revenue eleven years to bring a case in court and the case required barristers and months of my time ( we were the test case for 150 others who used the same scheme). I decided I was too busy setting up export markets at the time to come home and fight the case. We paid £150,000 including interest on tax which was not legally owed. Gordon Brown was the PM and his regime was similar to Stasi Starmer’s promised regime to come. 150 other companies were also illegally forced to pay tax.
POST
The largest group is people failing to “take reasonable care” with their taxes (30%), by failing to record transactions or carelessness, or error (15%). Tax avoidance, where wealthy people or companies legally use the system to reduce their bill, such as using offshore tax havens, makes up around 4%.
Ms Reeves will vow to power up HMRC to win back this lost cash, which could be funnelled into public services. She will say: “We will give it the resource it needs to go after those who are avoiding or evading tax, and we will modernise it so we have a system that is fit for purpose.”
The Treasury will also announce a consultation on mandatory e-invoicing, to make it harder for firms to dodge paying tax.

Communists do not hold with law, or democracy – only with power. All who want law and democracy are referred to as ‘far right’.
Teds are the only genuine opposition. Reform are offshore billionaires permitted to play purely to maintain fake opposition and another way for the people to waste their vote.
