    I have been exposed to a try by AI to get money from me and it works like this.

    You have written a book and published it so you get a contact from someone masquerading as a well-known author who loves what you write and want to help you get more published. It asks what contribution you can make.

    In my case, having said I was not going to waste money on a vague promise, I was contacted by a ‘strategic book marketer’ who would like to republish my books, although I said they were too old. ‘She’ said she would only charge me for the materials used.

    The penny dropped when the initial contact sent me another flattering mail, but it was signed with the name of the ‘book marketer’. I explained this to a younger friend who works with AI and she explained the scam.

    I then got messages on one of my FB pages, from other people who had been exposed to this scam.

    It came about because we had published with a company that ended up keeping our money and did nothing to promote our work.

    Fortunately I’ve had a book published by a proper publisher (Findhorn Press) and I can see the difference.

    So beware scams designed to flatter you and ultimately part you from your money.

    Caveat Emptor! Buyer beware. That’s the old maxim for buying from a market stall. Still applies to everything now in reality, online shite even more so
