DOES SIZE REALLY MATTER?
Fri 8:26 pm +00:00, 4 Apr 2025 30Ok guys chill out, I am not asking you to get your old school ruler out, in a room with a bit of privacy, so don’t panic.
I’m actually going to cover 2 subjects together in the one article here, that both concern the size of things that we just, usually, well, take for granted. It was the recent partial eclipse that got me thinking, again, about the size of objects in relation to their distance apart from each other. We are told and as a general rule, accept what we are told, that the sun is approx. 400 times larger than the moon but it is also 400 times further away, meaning that they look identical in size in relation to one another from our perspective here on Earth. Well to me, it just never made sense, this fact of being 400 times further away = 400 times smaller.
At Liverpool seafront, standing 50 yards from a huge docked cruise liner that was visiting the city for the day, I could look out to sea and I could see another similar sized vessel on the horizon and it obviously looked tiny from my point of view. Now 400 times further away than the 50 yards I was from the docked ship, would equate to a distance of some 11 miles and I can tell you now, that ship on the horizon was more than 400 times smaller than the ship that was 50 yards in front of me, by some margin. I know how far the wind farm is out to sea, (5 miles) and the ship was past the wind farm, and I timed the distant ships arrival at Liverpool at just under an hour, so a really good estimate of the distance for me was about 10 miles, (slightly closer than 400 times further away we are using as an example.) So there was approx. 400 times distance between the 2 ships as I said, but there was clearly more than 400 times difference in their relative sizes, I felt I could easily double the 400 times, it looked maybe even a thousand times smaller, or even more, such was the difference in size between the ships at around 400 times distance difference.
Another way of quite easily judging size difference between objects that are approx. 400 times further away in distance, is to look up at planes flying over head at their cruising altitude of 40,000 feet. Then just imagine having one of those jumbo jets just 100 feet in front of you. These behemoths of the sky at 40,000 feet, or less, are just tiny specks of white dust to our eyes and certainly appear more than 400 times smaller than a jet just 100 feet away from you, they appear far smaller than 400 times the size of a grounded plane.
So I decided to do some digging around to see if I could find a way of how I could work out or prove, that just because an object is 400 times further away, does not automatically make that object 400 times smaller than it really is, which is the claim of the sun and moon magic they indoctrinate us with. To my eyes and my reality of looking at the above objects, this claim did not appear to stand up to a simple visual test, but I needed something more concrete to prove to myself I was on to something.
In my search I came upon the Inverse Square Law which states;

I read the above and tried to understand it’s meaning. We know that as an object moves further away it obviously gets smaller, but why specifically 4x smaller each time you double the distance between the objects. The only thing I could think of is because the object will appear to get smaller from the top down, from the bottom up, from the left to the right and from the right to the left, it’s just perspective. I may be wrong but that was my interpretation of how the law could work.
So after reading the above, I decided to use the Inverse Square Law in reverse. We ‘know’ the sun is 93 million miles away from us, so if I divided 93,000,000 miles by 2, the sun would appear would appear to be 4 times as big as when it was in it’s original place. I then carried on dividing the distance to the sun in half and each time I halved the distance, I multiplied the size of the sun by 4 times from it’s previous increase, so it ended up looking like this;
93,000,000 divided by 2 = 46.5 mill miles / means the sun would appear 4x bigger to us.
46.500,000 div by 2 = 23.25 mill miles / means the sun would appear 16x bigger to us.
23.250,000 div by 2 = 11.62 mill miles / means the sun would appear 64x bigger to us
11.620,000 div by 2 = 5.81 mill miles / means the sun would appear 256x bigger to us
Can you see where this is going, we are starting to hit a snag in the scientific claim in relation to why we have an almost identical sized sun and moon in our sky, I will continue.
5.810,000 div by 2 = 2.90 mill miles / means the sun would appear 1024x bigger to us
2.905,000 div by 2 = 1.45 mill miles / means the sun would appear 4096x bigger to us …. and I will end the calculations there.
I’ve arrived at a calculation using Inverse Square Law, in reverse, that if the sun was 1.45 million miles from earth, it would appear in our sky as being over 4,000x bigger than what the moon appears. I may have done something wrong, missed something out or mis understood an element of what I have just calculated. Please if you spot something, point it out because I am trying to imagine an object that is 4,000 times bigger in diameter than the moon, in our sky and I am finding it difficult to comprehend. But something 800,000 miles across at 1.45 mill miles away would look all encompassing, wouldn’t it.
The second part of the article on Does Size Really Matter? is related to coastal walks and me wondering how far one would have to go to complete a circuit of the UK coast. It then took me to other parts of the world and their coastal lengths and what appear to be some strange results.
A quick search for the distance of the UK’s coast is 7,700 miles (12,051 including islands off the coast.) From there I looked for the same details regarding the coasts of Australia and Antarctica. The figure for Australia was 16,010 miles and Antarctica was 11,165 miles with these added details for the ice covered cap;
- Length:17,968 kilometers (11,165 miles)
- Coastal Types:
- 44% is floating ice in the form of an ice shelf.
- 38% consists of ice walls that rest on rock.
- 13% is ice streams or the edge of glaciers.
- The remaining 5% is exposed rock.

Taking your example of the aircraft, of course it looks smaller in the sky because it’s THE SAME PHYSICAL SIZE as the one on the ground, unlike the Sun/Moon where the Sun is vastly larger than the Moon.
Yes you have a point, but the plane at 40,000 feet is clearly many more times smaller than 400 times than a plane 100 feet away from you and if the Inverse Square Law is correct, the sun would appear much smaller in the sky than what it actually does given the sizes and distances given.
A bit more clearly, it just appeared to me when I looked at objects of similar size, that when one was close and the other was approx 400 times further away, to my eyes, the distant object was far more than 400 times smaller than the near object. the plane and ship examples were just a way most people could easily experience and comprehend such a scenario.
As far the coastline measurements, you need to consider the fractal complexity of the coastlines being compared. Take a piece of a jigsaw and place inside a circle slightly larger than the piece. Which has the largest perimeter?
I understand that principle, but when you compare the sizes of the land masses, they don’t appear to add up whatsoever. I believe the Norway coastline is in access of 60,000 miles but as you say that has a very complex fractal pattern. Looking at the 3rd image Antarctic appears to have a more fractal appearance than Australia which mostly has long sweeping coasts, has a larger circumference than Australia, yet has an almost 5,000 shorter coastline, it doesn’t figure.
Regarding the 400 times sun/moon and ship/ship then, your perspective is an issue.
“…less of your field of view, making it APPEAR smaller”. Not sure how relevant that is though, maybe a photographer can help, Ian?
Regarding the coastlines then, something ain’t right! Only thing that I can think of is the fiords of Norway. Significant bays and inlets make a massive difference to the total length. Although those maps look totally out of whack to me. Crater Earth?
Thanks, with the coastlines, just looking at the figures given and the images they present, I just can’t see how they pan out as being accurate, it’s a head scratcher for me.
What’s the source for this kneepad? It uses the same tactics as the flat earth bunch. Whilst on FB I no longer am, I’d encounter the flat earth proponents, then spend a day getting it sorted in my mind then disprove it, only to be hit by, well what about this then?. These were the kind of things they got. Flat Earth theory only damages the reputation of internet researchers.
What is the article trying to say?? the sun’s not real, the moon’s not real?
Hi Ian, the source is just totally my mind ticking over and knowing that we live in a world that is full of lies and contradictions that most people, as I said in the article just accept without question what we are told. I’ve got to a point that I question everything now and this article has no Flat Earth intentions, although it is designed to make us think about what we are told by main stream science, a lot of what we now know is indoctrination. Basically all I an saying with the sun and moon is that I believe I figured out the Inverse Square Law seems to prove that the dimensions and distances to these bodies proves the details we have been given are not correct. I’ve used their basic printed law and it doesn’t add up. I am trying to point out more lies we have been told.
Ok my friend feel free. I understand your frustration, and though I don’t agree with you, I admire your drive and understand that it’s difficult to tolerate what you think is fake. You have a great outlet here on Tap. There are many intelligent people who are aware of the lies we are fed. Good luck and best wishes.

Enjoy the Tap while we still have it.
I thought the link was posted on the wrong article by mistake to be honest. I thought it was more suited to the Russell Brand post, warnings have already been issued by the courts not to post any material that may influence the court case.
I put that link there as I believe that we’re arguing about (what I feel) is irrelevant material while we’re being turned into China, yet no-one seems to care. Re the inverse sq law, I’d never heard it applied to anything other than gravity but then again I have my own interests, and when I checked it out, it can apply to many scientific laws. As I said before, I believe (in this case) the official version of the solar system layout, and have never encountered anything to make me doubt that, but I’m only me and as ever if I’m proved wrong, then I’ll change my mind.
Re the link again, I fear that our days of openly challenging official dogma may soon be over. As John says, we should enjoy it while we can, but I fully accept everyone’s right to explore whatever turns them on, though I have negative memories of the FE movement.
Just maybe your fear of being turned into China is irrational, as all we usually have to go on is the MSM propaganda that is regularly churned out. There was an article on here recently, specifically about what happened when one of the large social media sites went down. Americans then, just to get their daily online ‘fix’ used a Chinese version for a few days and to their horror discovered what a wonderful and amazing place China was. I was friends with a Chinese student until she moved back a couple of years ago and the only perception of China I had, that was on the money was the one child policy, which only applied if you lived in a city (not the countryside,) she herself being one of them. Her mother would have lost her decent governmental job had she had another child she told me. She told me there was no tyrannical social score system and China was in general a wonderful place to live. In that article on here, people appeared to have a great work/life balance, plenty of money, amazing cars and well stocked and very cheap shops, the Americans were pretty upset at the apparent huge gulf in lifestyle quality, from what I saw. Also recently, I have watched 2 or 3 videos, in the last week, in which we are informed that the population figures of 1.4 billion people is hugely exaggerated, by at least half or maybe even 2/3. In one of the videos a guy from England is living in a deserted Chinese city full of empty tower blocks and he claimed to be in one of only 3 or 4 occupied apartments in his block. At night time, he filmed the tower block he lived in and could only find one other light on in the building, here’s one of those videos on Chinas population figures;
https://beforeitsnews.com/alternative/2025/04/the-vanishing-billion-exposing-chinas-population-myth-3833298.html
Whatever is going on in the world is worldwide, not just us being turned into China, although from what I know and have seen, I for one would welcome a Chinese lifestyle and so it would appear, would many Americans. Surely you know virtually everything we have ever been told to a large percentage, is pure lies. What I see happening is an attack on America, the ‘land of the free,’ and if they can bring down the biggest in the Western world the rest of us will follow. I agree they are trying to turn us into China, but only the type of China that you perceive, not the China that I believe is the reality, because I believe the real China could well be a million miles from what you think it is. We really must stop believing the propaganda that is continually pumped at us, that’s something I learned very quickly when I started heavily researching 5 years ago.
Yes I agree Kneepad, I’ve posted several articles here about the daily reality in China. I particularly recommend Larry Romanoff [I know, aristocracy name] at Unz. He’s done some great articles about China which he portrays as a real meritocracy. He’s been so prolific there that I can’t find the one in question after a quick look, sorry…
Anyhow, as a meritocracy he shows how the cream rises to the top in China and that Chinese leaders have an amazing intense lifelong training to get there. Once they reach their limits then they progress no further, they are not promoted above their ability. So Xi really is one of the smartest Chinese on the planet, super intelligent. Compare and contrast with our lot, Dump, Spermer. Micron and the latest German guy, a Blackrock man, chalk and cheese
ps, I agree about population figures too, all of them are BS, about as useful as a chocolate teapot
Found it

Thanks, Yes I’ve seen other material that seems to show the 8 bill population figure is created to instill fear that we are over populated and need a ‘cull.’ I will check the link out, …….. once I’ve watched the league leaders have their backsides handed back to them on a plate, with all the trimmings, haha
I like to listen to a lot of American commentators too, as I say, I believe they are out to destroy the USA and the rest will follow, and this struck me as interesting and rather detailed from a USA news report that I read every day. Start at the 55min 50 secs point in the video to get a rather detailed account of the UK ‘Muslim grooming gangs,’ information not much published even in our own country and this is as I say, basically an American news report, though it does cover all the worldwide events. I admit it is a very pro Trump outlet, but I listen equally to both sides of the Trump argument. One of the main aspects of the pro Trumpers is that he is out to destroy the private banking cartel and what the recent tariffs battle, he does appear to be doing damage to the stock market. I am not claiming to be on any particular side, but I do listen to what both sides do say when it comes to Trump.
No link Kneepad?
You could well be correct about USA, it fits the age old Talmudic playbook. Chew up and spit out the husk of the old hegemon, and move on to the next. China?
Or maybe the American Technate? Multipolarity does seem to be on the cards
As for the reds then, well done cottagers. Although the arse ain’t really good enough to make up 11 points in 7 games, as we proved yesterday
My error sorry, I did copy, just forgot to paste, as I say go to 50m 50s point for about 7 mins of detail I never or rarely even see in our press.

Fulham played really well, especially 1st half and a nice favour from across the park yesterday.
My ref to turning into China was referencing the lack of ability they have to criticise government or talk openly about things which we take for granted but seeing, which was what the article is about, but fuck off and fantasise about astronomy details being wrong, while our country turns into a shithole. I’m gone.
To me, the two biggest problems in the world are the banking cartels and the abuse of our children. That abuse is carried out by the church, royalty, sports and film/tv ‘stars’ and politicians, (yet another arrested yesterday, probably after decades of abusing,) but it seems to be a very touchy subject to engage in, no one is interested, yet if you read comments attached to a animal abuse story, the comments scream, hang the b’stard. If it’s the children, no ones interested. I will take your reply as a compliment, similar to those I get when I try to inform people about to C19 and vaxxes, have a good day, no hard feelings from me.
Blimey Ian, no need to be so touchy, the conversation has been perfectly civil. We don’t all have to agree about everything do we. Or say anything is off limits
And anyway who says they Chinese can’t talk openly? I’m not sure that is correct from what I’ve seen and heard. Someone close to me lived in Nanjing for a couple years a decade or so ago. Maybe things have changed since but I was told that folk were open with them, very hardworking too
Nice to see you using your own observations Kneepad instead of just accepting what the “authorities” offer. The inverse square of light law (I may have that wrong) raises some serious questions regarding the moon. I think it states that if you half the distance you double the luminescence of the source, if you take the moon as 1 lumen ( a full moon is much brighter) keep halving the distance and doubling the brightness by the time you got to within 100 mls of the moon’s surface it would appear like an intense spotlight which would virtually blind anyone standing on it, not like the supposed Apollo photo’s we are presented with.
I observe the moon a lot and it sometimes rises and falls in front of my house and sometimes at the back of my house, it always travels in a clockwise motion from lot to right, which is strange considering the stars travel in an anticlockwise motion. For this to happen when it’s in front of my house and at the back of my house, correct me if I’m wrong but wouldn’t the earth have to be rotating in opposite directions… also if you look at the moon, best observed with a crescent moon it doesn’t rise and fall in the same orientation in the sky but appears to rotate around a central point somewhere just below the horizon, again this would mean the Earth was rotating on 2 different axis.
The craters on the moon also present a problem, as the moon supposedly always shows the same “face’ to the Earth how can the craters have come about? Any supposed meteorites that are said to have caused these craters would have had to have passed by the earth on the way to the moon… how is that possible with the supposed much larger gravitational pull of the Earth? Surely these objects would have impacted the Earth first?
Why, since the invention of the telescope have no new craters ever been observed? The craters are also all circular meaning the supposed impacts were perpendicular to the surface, never coming in at an angle, seems highly unlikely to me.
As you can probably guess I’m not a globe head, whatever the truth is I certainly don’t believe I’m on a spinning ball travelling through space in at least 4 different rotational directions at a speed around 2 1/4 million mls per hour and I feel nothing… all this whilst the position of the stars have remained the same for millennia and never once has anybody measured only degree of parallax.
Thanks, some very interesting points/observations you make, something to think about. As in the article, my search found that the Inverse Square Law states, if you double the distance between two objects the same size, the further away object will appear 4x smaller. That’s not my claim, i just worked out the calculation on that basis. Until C19, 5 years ago, I believed we lived on a spinning ball flying through space, but this article is not a F.E. based discussion, it’s just about my observations and looking at the world in a whole different perspective. I don’t know the truth of where we live, I just know we are not told the truth, cheers
Gary Fraughen is a chartered surveyor amongst many other things. He’s currently running the numbers to see what the data says about the Earth. Personally I don’t know if it’s round, flat or a combination of the two but I do know the official story doesn’t add up. http://www.garyfraughen.co.uk
A late friend of mine who worked on the Roswell saucer wreckage mentioned years ago the earth is round but way bigger that we’re told. Maybe 200 million miles round. The truth may surprise us all.
“Maybe 200 mill miles round.” I’ve said the exact same thing to a friend who continually bangs on about F.E. that’s a great shout John. But this is not intended to turn inro a F.E. debate. Can anyone say I am wrong about the law the above article is about.
None of us will ever really know as we can’t go high enough to see. I don’t think it’s any coincidence that the mega rich are all going up in rockets, balloons or planes. Branson has been doing it for years. One of the biggest tools we have is an open mind. Even if some of the concepts and ideas we may consider are uncomfortable we have to investigate them.
I may as well finish of with my last observation on the Venus article I posted from late February. A week after writing the article I had my first night of clear skies to observe the planet. on the 28/02/25 the Sun set at 17.45 and Venus was clearly visible. I kept checking and 3 hours later at 20.45 I lost sight of Venus over the roof of a house 100 yards away. So Venus was still quite high then and in that time, our earth had rotated 45 degrees, just over 3,000 miles of circumference of Earth. I got a protractor out and that is some curvature to see around, impossible I’d say, to be able to see Venus at 55 mill miles away behind us. Something is not quite right.
PS, what has happened to our skies the last 3 days, beautiful pristine clear blue skies and not one long lasting chemtrail (up there for many hours,) left by the dozens of planes passing overhead. Just the normal very short contrail that disappears in 15/20 seconds. Long may that last.
