Just bought a new Nissan Leaf today. Prices are fantastic right now as electric fights to hold its market share. Charge on plug at home at 22p a unit. 165 miles cost £8. If ou have solar power, about £4. Petrol £35 for 165 miles or so. The economics are persuasive. Until they bring in per mile charges, electric is as good as free. Cars are currently heavily discounted with 0% finance – pay over four years. It’s never been better.
Is that in the Philippines Henry, or over here in the UK?.
Also Henry, as Godfrey mentions, yes indeed they’re excellent in certain situations. I however would prefer petrol for motorway use. There’s also the second hand sales issues.
I would have thought that an ordinary petrol driven car would be the best bet. It requires no rare earth metals or children in third world countries being exploited for the batteries, which have an annoying habit of exploding.
People who know what they’re talking about have told us that oil is not a fossil fuel and is inexhaustible so what’s not to like?
