There are informal rules for American citizens about living in the U.S. Empire. Mind you, most of them are not codified into law. They are not found in an imperially published citizen’s manual. But American citizens are expected to know these informal rules and abide by them. Violations can result in criminal penalties or, more commonly, social ostracism, accusations of disloyalty and hatred of America, and even charges of sympathizing with terrorists or even being terrorists. In some circumstances, violations of the informal rules can also lead to criminal penalties.
One informal rule is that when the Empire initiates a military attack on a small, militarily weak, economically impoverished country, American citizens are expected to cheer for the Empire and support the troops, even though the Empire is the aggressor in the conflict. Woe to any American citizen who expresses sympathy or empathy with the victim that the Empire has targeted. Doing that constitutes demonstrative proof that the citizen hates America and loves terrorists.
Why terrorists? Because when a country targeted by a U.S. invasion or occupation defends itself by attacking U.S. troops, ships, planes, or military installations, U.S. officials and their supporters often portray the resistance as terrorism, even when the attacks are directed against military targets rather than civilians. Therefore, it stands to reason that an American citizen who expresses any sympathy or empathy with the nation that the Empire has targeted for death and destruction is to be considered to be a hater of America and a lover of terrorists.
Another informal rule is that when the Empire targets a predominantly Muslim nation, Americans are expected not only to condemn the targeted country but also to harbor suspicion, fear, or hostility toward Muslims generally. This is especially true if the targeted nation defends itself from the Empire’s aggression rather than quickly surrendering and submitting to the will of the Empire. The Muslim country’s decision to defend itself is then portrayed by some supporters of the Empire as part of a broader religious war by Muslims against American Christians.
Once the Empire has launched its war of aggression against a Muslim nation, woe to any American who expresses support for Islam in general or for the right of people to practice the Muslim faith. Any American who does so is considered to be taking sides with Muslims in the holy war that they have supposedly launched against American Christians by defending themselves from the U.S. Empire’s aggression. Any American who expresses support or sympathy with the targeted nation is also accused of supporting what Empire supporters portray as a centuries-old Muslim quest to establish a worldwide caliphate, including the forcible imposition of Sharia law on communities all across America.
Another informal rule is that an American citizen must never overtly assist people in a nation that the Empire has targeted for death, suffering, or impoverishment through an invasion, occupation, sanctions, or embargo. Among the worst things that Americans can do is travel to the targeted nation with food, medicines, or other essentials for the people who are facing death, injuries, maiming, or impoverishment at the hands of the Empire. The support among the American people for the Empire and its quest to kill and impoverish people of the enemy country is expected to be 100 percent.
That’s why, for example, the Empire imposed a $10,000 civil penalty on American citizen Bert Sacks for having the temerity to travel to Iraq and spend money there on food, lodging, and transpiration without the official permission of the Empire. Sacks had traveled to Iraq to deliver medicine and other humanitarian supplies to the Iraqi people, who were suffering under the deadly and destructive effects of U.S. economic sanctions. U.S. officials went after Sacks with a vengeance in a desperate (albeit unsuccessful) years-long effort to collect their fine. In other words, Americans are expected to simply permit the sanctions to do what they are supposed to do — kill and impoverish the populace of the enemy country — the country that the Empire has targeted for its war of aggression.
Another example involves the Cuban people. Today, the Empire continues to target the Cuban people with economic sanctions, an embargo, and an oil blockade as part of its longstanding effort to bring about regime change in Cuba. The aim is to kill, injure, or impoverish as many Cuban citizens as possible until their government capitulates and submits to the orders of the Empire. Woe to any American who travels to Cuba without official permission and spends money there. especially with the aim of delivering food, medicine, oil, equipment, or other life-saving supplies in violation of the Empire’s sanctions, embargo, and blockade. Such Americans will be targeted with high civil penalties or even criminal prosecution and imprisonment.
Another informal rule involves churches in America. They are expected to pray for U.S. troops, even when those troops are the aggressors in a conflict. How often do Americans hear prayers in their churches for the innocent people who are being killed, maimed, or impoverished by U.S. military interventions? Hardly ever. After all, such prayers would not only antagonize the Empire but also lovers of the Empire who donate to the church.
Perhaps the most important informal rule about living under the Empire is that American citizens are expected to maintain a deep and abiding faith in their imperial rulers, along with unwavering admiration, respect, and love for them, especially those within the Pentagon, the vast military-industrial complex, the ever-growing army of voracious fat-cat “defense” contractors, the CIA, and the NSA. Never question or challenge the Empire’s decision to target an enemy nation with a military attack, occupation, sanctions, embargo, or blockade. Whoever the Empire labels an enemy is automatically to be considered America’s enemy. The Empire is everything. It is our god, our conscience, and our morals. God and the Empire bless America. Praise God and praise the Empire.
