How is the US convincing the Philippines to destroy itself?

The US conquest of the Philippines was brutal killing millions in 1898 until 1900. They tortured civilians. They set up concentration camps. Similar to Iraq in 2003. It’s the way the US suppresses countries.
The US never gave up control of the Philippines despite so-called independence around 1945.
Instead of rising economically like the rest of Asia, the US keeps the Philippines poor. And now the US is building military infrastructure ready for a catastrophic war against China, a war which would set the country back by decades.
Like Ukraine the country is being self-destructed, to serve Washington.
Philippine media space has been targeted by corporations, to get the people to believe trading with China was somehow not good, despite the benfits to the economy and national infrastructure, instead preparing the country for an unwinnable war with China.
