China fools US/Israel with genius Iran strategy
Thu 7:49 pm +00:00, 19 Mar 2026China’s silence in the first weeks on Iran was not a mistake. Beijing is highly strategic in its approach to the latest US war of aggression, and it’s quite surprising what’s behind the reasoning. Today I’m talking again to Mr. Sheng Zhang, a Chinese West-Asia expert who explains the driving rationale behind China’s approach to the Iran War.
TAP – It’s not very often you hear a Chinese perspective on Iran. Tip-toeing between the assailants, China wants to maintain relations with both sides. China expected the war to happen. That the US would attack Iran. Chinese citizens and government are highly sympathetic to Iran. China abstained from criticising Iran in the UNSC.
China was not optimistic that Iran would be able to defend herself. China wants Iran to perform well. China was worried that a regime chnage could happen in Iran, with so many assassinations, and the country so greatly infiltrated. But after a few days, the Chinese see Iran as doing a lot better than they thought it would.
But does China read the threat to China correctly? China’s military strength has grown so far that the US would struggle to fight a naval war blockading China at the Moluccan Straits in Asia. Instead this war with Iran, is way to cut off China from energy supplies, and run a global blockade. The US acts out the narrative of – this is happening ‘out of our control’ when closng Hormuz was the plan all along.
