People who are deprived of sight or hearing or one of the other five senses develop their emotional and spiritual energy to a higher extent.
We could all do this and some people do, but most of us settle for the ease of seeing, hearing, speaking.
I search my brain for words to describe Lucy, and “exceptionally gifted” is what comes to mind.
When I was a boy, an elderly gentleman lived down the road from me. He was known locally as Blind Wullie, the town’s piano tuner. I often passed by Blind Wullie’s house and heard him play the piano. Amazing, when I now think about it.
