US objective in Iran is regime change. Killing your way to victory is a poor strategy.  The US cannot project power without the cooperation of the Gulf States and neighbouring countries.  Yet even Iraqi Sunnis are issuing Fatwahs against the US and Israel.  Sunni and Shia are coming together.  A lot of western corporations are pulling out of the region.  Patrick Henningsen sums up the background events taking place across the region.
