99% OF THE WORLDS POPULATION GET SUNLIGHT AT THE SAME TIME
Thu 6:48 pm +00:00, 10 Jul 2025 6How did this amazing moment of magic pass us by without any special wide spread attention, does it really happen? Here is the claim and it is supposed to happen every year apparently, though the information below, from a search, is a mixture from 2022 and 2023;
99% of the world’s population in sunlight July 8 …
-
Earth’s Tilt and Orbit:The Earth’s tilt on its axis causes different hemispheres to receive varying amounts of sunlight throughout the year. During the Northern Hemisphere’s summer, it’s tilted closer to the sun, resulting in longer days and more daylight hours. - July 8th Timing:The specific date of July 8th is significant because it’s after the June solstice (when the Northern Hemisphere has its longest day). The Earth’s slight shift away from the sun after the solstice means that the sunlight extends further south, impacting densely populated areas in the Southern Hemisphere.
- Twilight Zones:While 99% of the population is technically in sunlight, some areas experience twilight, which is the period between daylight and darkness. This can be civil twilight, nautical twilight, or astronomical twilight, depending on how far below the horizon the sun is.
- Exclusions:The only areas typically excluded from the 99% are those in the far Southern Hemisphere, like parts of Australia, New Zealand, and Antarctica.
Wow, that is some sort of extraordinary claim. Notice it says 99% of the population and not 99% of the land mass. For me, I went straight to Google Earth and placed the globe Earth so Africa was the image right infront of me, as the above image shows the sun over Africa.
Basically this is all that is visible on a globe when the high noon sun is over Africa, granted there should be that 23 deg tilt too;

With the 23 deg axis tilt and almost perfect position over Africa

Then I asked Google, not that I needed to, how much of the Earth is lit by the Sun? The reply was as I expected;

Very interesting, thanks Kneepad. That is certainly a massive globe Earth headscratcher
“Extraordinary claims deserve extraordinary evidence” very true
First question, who are Earth Sky?
Second, has anybody published a rebuttal or criticism? On the face of it then I’d expect a massive kickback from the mainstream
Earth Sky are just a generic online magazine type website that discusses Earth and Space topics. I could have sourced one of dozens of sites for the same results to be honest. I am certain that Earth Sky are not the ones making the claim, they are just reporting it like so many other sites have done.
I have not heard the subject even mentioned anywhere, never mind any rebuttal and only came across it myself by reading a random comment that caught my attention, that said nothing more than, ‘July 8th is not possible on a globe earth.’ I then searched that phrase to try find out, what was not possible on a globe on that date.
To be honest that first image I posted shows the whole of N. and S. America in either bright daylight or some sort of twilight, that’s not even remotely possible with the high noon sun over Africa as depicted and the same goes for huge areas on the Eastern side of the map that should not be in daylight. I just thought it was a very strange claim to make, so I checked it out for a few hours and posted it here as I could make no sense of it.
Hi Kneepad, now I’m not getting into this big time, but if the sun is centred in line with Africa but higher , the bulk of the land in the world will get light, as the bulk of the rear of the globe is the pacific ocean. see pics

Thanks Ian, that is useful. It strikes me that, because this first image is the dark side when the other is in full sun then, 99% must be totally incorrect. Almost the whole of North America is visible, plus a fair bit of the far East too. So far far more than 1% of the worlds population
So, either the % claim is totally incorrect [most likely]
Or, the globe model itself is incorrect [possible but less likely]
Of course John has shown us via Godgevlmaste that there could be a third option [in essence a much much larger globe/crater Earth, with a local “sun” of some sort]
And then there is “Flat Earth” which, as you’ve often said, has all the hallmarks of a distraction psyop but is still hard to totally disprove
all possible Pete.
