Spermer’s online COD goes ‘operational’
Sun 8:01 pm +00:00, 16 Mar 2025Trump’s emissary to Moscow Witkoff is getting on with his Russian counterpart, and he is clearly able to fathom that Russia is negotiating on the basis of the Istanbul agreement initialled by both sides to the Ukraine conflict in 2022 – before Boris Johnson waded in and instructed Zelensky to back off from peace negotiations. Trump genuinely wants to build good relations with Russia, it appears, according to Alexander Mercouris, and this is what is terrifying the Europeans, who are being excluded from these negotiations.
In desperation the British and French are forming the COW – the coalition of the willing to send troops uninvited to Ukraine to try to be a part of any forthcoming settlement. It raises a slight chuckle or at least a wry smile from Alexander. The part about US Russian relations starts after 1 hour of the video or so. Dare we hope that Trump will actually bring peace to Europe? Cow or no cow – it’s all being set up on Zoom between European leaders, who are not even meeting in person!! No joint news conference obviously. Does anyone know who the members of the Cow are? Are there in fact any, other than Britain, Germany, France and Turkey? The Coalition of the Dumped seems a better description – The COD. Dumped is a more accurate term than Willing, as many of the dumped are not at all willing – countries like Italy.
Spermer is going ahead with his dream of UK leadership of the COD, despite having no US support (Suez anyone?) – and he states he’s going ‘operational’. Is he being carried away by his Zoom meeting computer games? Electronic operational possibly but not as regards physical soldiers. Surreal. See the smile on Alexander’s face as he gives details.
Is this all about hurt pride and egos? Who’s pushing Kiev Spermer to do all this? I can’t imagine. There is a phenomenal lack of IQ visible in all this COD nonsense, somewhere in the piece. Alexander sees the COD as incredibly reckless and dangerous, as well as slightly comical. Where is this going? Up the Khyber in all probability.
