Hosting Upgrade Appeal

The Tap has become increasingly busy over the last few weeks with many more visitors and sign ups. It's currently creaking and slowing. We need a hosting account upgrade to help cope with the increased activity and keep this free blog online. It would be sad to lose it but it costs to keep it going and free to use. If any of you can help donate even a small amount towards the hosting upgrade that would be a big help. Thank you. Click here to donate

  1. Belyi says:

When I was a child, my grandmother told my mother she should never threaten a smack if she didn’t carry it out.

This is the same thing. Putin has warned and warned the idiots who are so full of themselves and when it happens, they needn’t be surprised. If they behaved as the adults people supposed they were when they elected them, we might get somewhere.

Me too Belyi, I learned that early in life. Never threaten without following up on the threat if necessary. Makes you look weak if you back down

I think that this theatre from the west is purely for narrative. The Emperor has no clothes and they know it

        My rule was always to:
        1) Inform the other party of the error and what I would do if it went unnoticed.
        2) To give the other person the benefit of the doubt by enquiring as to whether they heard and comprehended what I was saying, just in case they did not.
        3) There was an automatic no-warning strike if the scenario persisted after five minutes.

Needless to say, not once did I ever have to reprimand my children. They were good bairns and well admired for their polite behaviour in the community. Pity about the wife.

Well put Gordon, a good elaboration. I used the same technique with my kids too. I always got them to tell me that they understood the warning, or explain what they didn’t understand and then reissue it. And I had the same results as you

As for wifey that’s a man/woman thing ideally. A partnership of equals, both with different skills. I was better at discipline for sure

All this has suffered with the onset of political correctness and victim culture, I’m sorry to say. Folk are taught that offence is GIVEN rather than TAKEN, and that seems to encourage narcissism

  2. danceaway says:

If one learns about Narcissism. one finds that a Narcissist has the developmental level of a young child; so one is dealing with a child masquerading as an adult. Think of it as their adult body being merely a costume.

Their great fear is being unmasked; also they must “win” , no matter what the cost even to themselves. (Husbands who will destroy their business to prevent wife getting anything).

Thomas Sheridan has written an excellent book about this, entitled Puzzling People.

But we are mistaken if we think adult behaviour will come from these people. They are not capable of it. They are a child inside. Like a child, it is all about the self.

Even a child, however, has a more innate morality than those we are watching and suffering under.

It is a truly hideous situation.

    • Gordon says:

A few years ago a couple lived next door to me who were narcistic. These people are not nice to know, being full of their own superiority, using and manipulating others to their selfish advantage. They are constant, me, me, me all the time, and border on psychopathy.
I don’t think you’re far wrong comparing them to children. Sometimes their behaviour was like that of spoiled brats. Which they are, of course.
In Scotland we call them Heid Bangers.

  3. Gordon says:

Last night I listened to Andrey Kelin the current Ambassador of Russia to the United Kingdom being interviewed by BBC and after listening to the interview I had to confess that all which the Russian Ambassador had to say regarding the war in Ukraine and NATO evolvement was in my opinion correct.
