Russia has stated from the beginning that mercenaries will be sentenced in court to long terms of imprisonment or death, especially if they set one foot on Russian territory, but even for fighting against Russia in Ukraine which is still not part of NATO. Many mercenaries were not long ago serving soldiers in the US or other western armed forces. You have to be mad to take on such a risk, for money. Killing Russians is not a sport. It’s taking human life for cash.
