My wife was raised by her Grandparents, they were her Mam and Dad as it were. Old Dick well into his 70’s at that time had chest problems, ie chronic bronchitis. Once while in hospital with other bronchitis sufferers, the Doctor was giving a guy a hard time for cigarette smoking. According to Dick with a twinkle in his eye, he asked the Doctor in his agricultural Scottish accent and dialect “What do you think of the Pipe then Doctor?” He claimed the Doctor said ” Well actually Mr Bell, I think that the pipe is rather good for you”. We always assumed that this story was so his wife would stop moaning about his smoking, but after watching this, it may have been true.
Interesting story Ian. I think most know now that what the government says is good for us is bad and vice versa. They added chemicals to Tobacco to make it addictive which caused cancer!
Yes newensign that’s how I see it too, although I expect that pure tobacco is addictive too
In France they declare the percentage composition of cigarette rolling tobacco on the packet. I checked in a shop once and none of them are over 90% tobacco, some are under 80% tobacco. Which begs the question what is the rest made up of? It is clearly chemicals of some sort, burning agents, preservatives, god knows what else
Yes Pete, in hindsight as I was a bit ignorant of such things in my younger days, why would the government ban something if it was supposedly killing us off when that was always their agenda?. Remember, back in the 60’s, I think it was, when lead paint started to be banned on the pretext that children might link the paint and get poisoned? I never heard of any children getting ill from such, but it was at the time when the cell tower network was being rolled out. However, if a house had been lead painted it would block most frequencies entering and that is the reason for banning such paint!
Cigarettes are loaded with toxic metals. I’ve known many friends who drink, die too early. Some smokers last into their nineties, even cigarette smokers. I was told that smokers are less likely to suffer from Parkinsons as it stimulates dopamine production. Who knows?
Quite true Tap, but its not the tobacco that is dangerous, but as you say its the toxic ingredients which they add is the problem. An earlier post I made a few days ago. Dr. Ardis confirmed that nicotine cures Parkinson’s disease in a few months if given the right dose which is determined by the body weight. Nicotine also cures turbo cancer.
Don’t know whether it’s good or bad for you. I used to smoke but gave up years ago. All I know is that it makes your breath stink, despite the chewing gum and breath sprays
some people use to try and freshen up, although nothing works.
It also makes your clothes stink in the winter.
I didn’t understand why you could have a smoking or non-smoking room in a hotel, because I reasoned that as I wasn’t going to smoke, it didn’t matter…until the day I was given a smoking room by mistake. Couldn’t get out fast enough.
Yes I agree Belyi, I remember going into houses of smokers and the smell nearly knocked one over, but I think the smell was more pronounced when chemicals as “enhancers” were added. Taking it as a lozenge in the form of essential oil does cure many ailments from what many people have told me.
