MSM Suckered By False Explosions Report From Kiev – Where is Marianna BBC Disinfo’ Queen ?

The Guardian, NY Times, France 24, Sky News, The Telegraph and the CIA affiliate Radio Free Europe to name but a few all appear to have been suckered by a story spread via Reuters. Another collective fact checking fail on their part.

Explosions were heard in central Kyiv on June 16 as an African delegation visited Ukraine on a peace mission, witnesses and Kyiv’s mayor reported.

Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported explosions in the central Podil district and warned that more missiles were headed toward the capital.

A Reuters correspondent in Kyiv saw the smoke trail of two missiles in the air. It was not clear if those missiles were fired by Russia or by Ukrainian air defenses.

South African presidential spokesman Vincent Magwenya has accused Reuters of peddling lies, after the news agency claimed that a Russian missile strike sent his delegation running for a bunker in Kiev.

Magwenya said. “We didn’t hear any explosions,” he tweeted. “Instead, we saw people going on about their day leisurely. Everything seems normal from what we have experienced thus far.”

“It’s very strange that we didn’t hear or see an explosion. There’s obviously some deliberate misinformation being spread here,” he told South Africa’s News24 outlet. “As we expected this mission was never going to be easy but some of the hurdles are deeply disturbing, like… this so-called explosion.”

 

Today’s false claim from Kiev doesn’t appear yet to have been verified or reported by the BBC’s expert team of truthers, perhaps the BBC Verify team are sat in the park eating ice creams comparing tin foil hats and Kiev’s conspiracy theories.
