In his opinion, it could be all about keeping Turkey/Erdogan on side. Turkey benefits financially ( as others do ); he becomes the hub for gas and grain. It frees him from Macron’s attempt to create land transport of the grain to Europe, as he is suggesting. And in the end, when Ukraine breaks the deal, as he is 80% sure they will do, then Erdogan has no more cards to play.
