A blockade outside a blockade
Mon 4:49 pm +00:00, 13 Apr 2026- The US has announced a blockade of all maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz originating from Iran or having agreed with Iran for passage;
- This is the full implementation of Washington’s initial objective for waging war with Iran, an oil blockade of not only China but also much of the multipolar world;
- The US’ primary geopolitical objective is global hegemony and the only way it can achieve this objective is by dragging the rest of the rising multipolar world down relative to US power and wealth;
- The primary means to do this is by targeting the life blood of modern civilization which is energy;
- The US has been sabotaging and creating energy crises deliberately around the world including through the invasion of Venezuela, the destruction of the Nordstream pipelines, its own blockade on the so-called “shadow fleet,” and the US CIA and military targeting Russian energy production, storage, and export facilities within Russia itself;

TAP – I was just wondering how this will work in practice. Iran will not allow through ships carrying cargoes for America and Israel, but will allow all others to set sail and pass through the Straits. The US cannot enforce a blockace inside the actual Gulf having no military presence there. Any US/NATO warships inside the Gulf would be extremely vulnerable to Iranian attack.
The US blockade would be taking place further out. But how can you blockade the open sea? Unless the US lands new crews to take over the ships it wants toblock,or sinks the ships in question, they will sail on. The US fleet might capture ten ships, but one hundred, one thousand. I can’t see how this can be done. Most ships will follow an order to turn around, but they will then try another route to bypass the line of the blockade. You can’t stop a thousand ships on the open sea.
Equally the US blockading ships could be attacked by submarine or long range missiles.
The Iranian blockade is controlled from onshore and is less vulnerable.
The military situation has not been thought through yet. Only the political.
