Not ‘if’ but ‘when’. WW3

The UK Government has admitted it is in the process of “developing plans” to implement “civilian assistance” to the military. A Cabinet Office spokesman said they are leading the work to develop the new proposals which they say will be a “key component of the Home Defence Programme”.
They are teaming up with war chiefs from the Ministry of Defence to put together the new laws. They could require ordinary Brits to be enrolled as soldiers should “serious risks” to the country be threatened.
Colonel Al Carns, Labour MP and former Royal Marines officer spoke in the House of Commons when the question was raised by the Liberal Democrats in session.
Ian Roome asked what steps the department was taking to “codify civilian assistance” as recommended in the Strategic Defence Review.
In response, Mr Carns said: “The Cabinet Office-led programme, in which Defence plays a key role, provides layers of defence, security, and resilience planning, and coordinates civil and military preparations for some of the most serious risks we could face.
Fears are rife that WW3 could break out given US President Trump’s actions this week.
America launched an attack on Venezuela, capturing the nation’s President Nicolás Maduro and leaving the country in a state of uncertainty over its political and economic future

Excellent!
Not sure that people would be chafing at the bit to get into the army, any kind of army. My stepbrother, many years older than me was delighted that national service had been abolished by the time he’d finished his studies. And that was then. I imagine that most people nowadays, young and old, would run the other way.
