Zelensky strutted into the White House like a spoiled brat expecting another blank check, only to be handed a cold dose of reality.
Trump, always transactional to the bone, laid out his terms: hand over Ukraine’s rare earth minerals for AI and weapons tech, and we’ll talk about ending the war. Translation? Ukraine is a mineral jackpot, not a democracy.
Its value to Washington has nothing to do with “freedom” or “defending Europe.” It’s all about feeding the US military-industrial beast in its AI arms race with China. And Zelensky? Just the middleman, disposable once the assets are secured.
But the real fireworks came when Trump called out Zelensky’s high-stakes bluffing, pretending Ukraine holds some mythical leverage over Moscow, NATO, and the future of the planet. “You don’t have the cards.” That’s not just Trump talking, that’s the reality that’s been obvious from day one to anyone not drunk on NATO kool-aid. Ukraine’s military is shattered, its manpower conscripted off the streets, its economy propped up by Western debt and laundered aid money.
The “cards” were never in Kiev’s hand, they’ve been held in Moscow all along.
JD Vance, channeling the barely concealed disgust of a man forced to sit through this farce, hit Zelensky where it hurts most: “Have you said thank you once?” Not only has Zelensky never shown gratitude, he went to Pennsylvania to campaign against the very people keeping his regime on life support. That’s the sheer arrogance of a puppet who believes his handlers work for him, instead of the other way around.
And let’s not forget the comedy bit, Trump mocking Zelensky’s legitimacy and eternal cosplay wardrobe. Three years into this tragedy and the man still parades around like he’s starring in a Netflix war drama. Yet somehow, Trump, ever the opportunist, backtracked the next day, suddenly discovering ‘respect’ for the dictator who canceled elections, banned the Orthodox Church, and handed Ukrainian media over to USAID and Soros NGOs. It’s a pathetic dance, one part theater, one part asset strip-mining operation.
Zelensky knows his shelf life is running out. The minerals are his last ticket to relevance. Without them, he’s just a liability in camouflage.
