Gardai Seize Journalist’s Car After She Asked For Name Of Officer Who Killed Rebecca Browne
Thu 10:21 pm +00:00, 30 Jan 2025| Rebecca Browne (21) was mown down and killed by a Garda car in the summer of 2023 when she was walking along a footpath close to a beach in Buncrana, Co Donegal. It was the early hours of the morning and she was coming home after a night out with her cousin. Some hours later, her family in Derry found out accidentally that Rebecca had been killed by a Garda car but to this day they have not been given the identity of the driver, which is their legal right. Shortly before Christmas, the DPP informed them there would be no prosecutions. No explanation was provided. In the days after the decision, a large protest was organised by the family close to the place where Rebecca was killed. On December 19th 2024, journalist Patricia McCafferty drove from her hometown of Bundoran to the vigil almost 80 miles away in Buncrana, northern Donegal. There was a lot of anger and sadness at the event and everyone present was horrified that the Gardai and DPP had refused to prosecute anybody for Rebecca’s death. After the dignified gathering, Patricia went to the local Garda Station and asked the duty officer to provide the name of the officer who killed Rebecca. He refused. She handed him some copies of The Irish Light and left. Approximately one hour later at around 10pm, Patricia was leaving town to begin the long journey back to the south of the county when she was stopped by a Garda jeep and van which had been tailing her. Six officers were present. She was asked to produce her driving licence, which she did, and was then informed that her motor insurance was fraudulent. At the time, her car was fully insured with a reputable firm but she was told by Garda Mark Flanagan that her company was not registered with the insurance authority – a blatant lie. Patricia’s car was then unlawfully seized and she was left stranded on the side of the road in the freezing night to make her way back to Bundoran, almost two hours away. This video encapsulates the appalling attack on her. This disgusting episode of criminality by the gardai was clearly a targeted hit against a woman who was brave enough to ask the question no mainstream journalist would dare. We have a right to know what happened to Rebecca Browne. The State does not have the right to keep her killer’s identity hidden. We have seen so much corruption and criminality from the thugs in uniform that it is hard to be shocked any more. But this latest act of terror against an Irish woman takes some beating. They cannot be allowed to get away with it. I frequently state that the hell that has been visited upon so many Irish people and families by the Gardai will visit your door soon if you do not take a stand. It’s farcical to say: ‘they’re not all bad.’ They are all bad because the ones who stay silent about the corruption they see every time they go into work are complying with the evil all around them. They all went along with the Covid tyranny ergo they are all bad. If they blew the whistle as Maurice McCabe did, they could be sitting on several million euros as he is. But instead they go along with the skullduggery, framing innocent people, assaulting young men and women, killing them on the roads and in garda stations. The guards are importing and dealing drugs to young people. Cocaine use within the force is now rampant. The guards get away with their thuggery because the Irish people look away in fear. How many people stopped to see if what was happening to Patricia was lawful? Or if she needed some assistance. ZERO. Imagine if five cars had. The outcome would have been very different. This lawless state is a dangerous place for children. This is what you are leaving behind if you don’t speak out against corruption now. It’s them versus us. Be in no doubt we are the enemy. They are a paramilitary terrorist organisation. Please don’t continue to turn away. Speak out. Share this article and let people know what they did to Patricia McCafferty, a woman of heroic courage. We have to protect and defend her now, and in doing so, we are protecting ourselves. Begin with a phone call to Garda HQ and Buncrana Station. When you stand up to any bully, you find they eventually cower and crawl back under their rocks. At this stage, it is a matter of survival because the fluorescent brigade are out of control.
