Bomb Brussels
Tue 10:05 pm +00:00, 8 Oct 2024Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico criticized calls by Members of the European Parliament to allow Ukraine to strike Russian territory with long-range weapons. He also suggested launching a missile strike at Brussels so they could “understand what it’s really about”, according to Hlavný Denník.
“I’m sorry that a perverse trend has emerged in Europe where, instead of stopping the sound of cannons, we hear loud applause, enthusiastic cheers, and often significant material decisions that only encourage the war to continue,” Fico said during a speech on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Carpathian-Dukla operation.
Additionally, he suggested “hitting some fountain” in Brussels with a missile.
“And suddenly we hear how some members of the European Parliament, as casually as a spring breeze, speak about medium-range missiles, about long-range missiles. Well, figuratively speaking. Perhaps one of those missiles could hit some fountain in Brussels so that they would understand what it’s really about,” the Slovak Prime Minister remarked.
Permission for Ukraine to strike Russia with long-range weapons
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has been advocating for permission to use Western weapons to strike deep into Russian territory.
Specifically, the US may allow the use of ATACMS missiles, and the UK could provide Storm Shadow cruise missiles.
However, The Washington Post reported that the US has expressed doubts about the effectiveness of Ukraine using long-range missiles to strike Russian territory. According to representatives of the White House and the Pentagon, Ukrainian leaders have not provided sufficient arguments in favor of this strategy.
