The Pact for the Future was agreed at the UN this morning shortly after I sent my first email today. This pact represents the centralisation of power, putting global influence over critical issues like climate policy, digital governance, and human rights in the hands of a few, with limited democratic oversight and citizen involvement. What This Means: – This is a big leap towards global governance where global agreements undermine the ability of nations to determine their own policy. – The focus on control over so called ‘misinformation’ could lead to greater restrictions on free speech where censorship curtails open dialogue. – The main positive is that the emergency platform has been REMOVED and the overall document watered down. We’ll provide our full analysis in the coming days. What We Must Do: It’s crucial that we keep challenging the consolidation of power and advocate for decentralised and democratic approaches the respect national self-determination and human rights What YOU can do: – Sign our open letter: Let’s make sure people understand the issues and the work that needs to be done I will continue to challenge outside the UN today – follow on social media here. We march on. Free Humanity |
