Full Village Living Off Land & Craft Like Modern Amish: 350 Families & Growing
Tue 1:30 pm +01:00, 16 Jul 2024 5Waco, Texas: 1200 members of the Homestead Heritage community have spent the past 5 decades working the land for their food, energy, water and livelihoods, both for their own health as well as that of the land. On about 500 acres of community-owned land, about 350 families are planting crops like wheat that they then grind for flour in their water-powered grist mill and then bake into bread that they sell at their restaurant. They have dozens of hand looms for weaving their own clothing (jackets included). There’s a blacksmith, leather workers, basket weavers, and furniture makers.

They were so wise to start so early on, and perhaps chose Texas for its sense of independence.
But in recent years Texas has been attacked with weather warfare, for exactly this reason, which is very sad to see for people like this. Perhaps another location would have been safer in the long run, as Belyi points out. Fingers crossed for them that they can survive. They are such an admirable model.
Quite true Danceaway, but probably there is no better place, but it looks as though it is right out in the wilds so will suffer to a lesser extent than being near an urban conurbation and 5G masts that only have a short range. As you say, they started early and knowledge of 5G dangers were not so well known then!
There are areas of the southeast which are less arid and have rather mild winters; I believe that is where David Dubyne has chosen to create his smallholding.
