When I heard this, I laughed out loud. Tucker Carlson in Moscow, so who do the BBC call upon? Sir Christopher Steele, of course. You cannot make it up.

I was in the shower. The radio was on. BBC R4 Today and Justin Webb reported on the horror of Tucker Carlson in Moscow to interview Vlad the Bio-Lab Slayer. Dustbin Plebb brings on an ‘expert’ to comment. I could not believe it. Sir Christopher ‘Russiagate dossier’ Steele who several years ago had Eddie NightMair, then host of the BBC R4 PM evening flagship news show, report on prostitutes peeing on germaphobe Trump in a Moscow hotel room. Even I knew this ‘fake news’ story was based upon a dodgy dossier by Steele. They project onto their opponents exactly what they are and how they behave; they take fake news and propaganda to another level.

Steele: “I think it will add fuel to push America to the hard right to discredit Ukraine and the war and to undermine American support for that in terms of arms supplies.”
BBC: “Do you think there’s merit in Americans getting to see Putin defending the war even if he’s saying things that are not true?”
Steele: “ I personally don’t. Putin is an indicted war criminal and Russia has been arresting and imprisoning western journalists as of late who’ve been trying to report on the war from Russia… even if you argue Putin should be given a platform, Tucker Carlson’s not the man to do it, he’s a propagandist, not a serious journalist. When you look at serious people, like your own Steve Rosenberg for example, when he turned up at Putin’s annual media event and tried to ask questions, he was refused. This is an exercise in propaganda and nothing more.”
BBC: “Steve and others have tried to do serious sit down interviews with Putin… is there a risk too that Putin will talk darkly about consequences for the West and nuclear war if the West doesn’t stand down?”
Steele: “I think the Chinese have told Putin to stop talking about nuclear threats, but Putin will try to spread divisions to divide the West, particularly in the US in the run up to the election… the only way Putin will win the war in Ukraine is by nullifying America’s support for Ukraine.”
