Letby. Is there any evidence?

Is this allegations by media or is there some actual evidence?  I read The Times editorial and saw no actual evidence at all.  I’ve been abroad for two months so might have missed key facts,

but is this the usual cover-up blaming a nurse for general incompetence and lack of care by management?  Most NHS hospitals are a nightmare for giving birth so what’s the difference this time?

There’s more to this – a lot of politics by the look of it.  Sky News writes –

The former director of nursing at the hospital where Lucy Letby murdered seven babies has been suspended from her current role.

Alison Kelly was the nursing director at the Countess of Chester Hospital while nurse Letby killed the babies and attempted to murder six others between June 2015 and June 2016.

Ms Kelly had been working in a similar position at the Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust, which runs Salford Royal Hospital and Royal Oldham Hospital, before she was suspended this morning.

An NHS England spokesperson said: “We welcome the independent inquiry announced by the Department of Health and Social Care into the events at the Countess of Chester and will cooperate fully to help ensure all lessons are learned.

“In light of information that has emerged during the trial of Lucy Letby, and the announcement of the independent inquiry, the Northern Care Alliance has suspended Alison Kelly.”

Letby not removed from unit after concerns were raised

The number of babies who suffered serious and unexpected collapses in the neonatal unit at the Countess of Chester Hospital increased significantly between 2015 and 2016.

Letby’s presence when collapses took place was first mentioned to senior management by the unit’s head consultant in late June 2015.

Concerns among some consultants about the nurse increased and were voiced to hospital bosses when more unexplained and unusual collapses followed, Manchester Crown Court heard.

But Letby was not removed from the unit until after the deaths of two triplet boys and the collapse of another baby boy on three successive days in June 2016.

Letby was confined to clerical work and in September 2016 registered a grievance procedure.

It emerged during legal arguments in the trial – in the absence of the jury – that the grievance procedure was resolved in Letby’s favour in December 2016.

I’m not sure at all Henry. She wouldn’t be the first innocent fall guy to take the rap. Ian Huntly springs to mind, Lee Harvey Oswald etc. She looks like butter wouldn’t melt in the picture. I however am a sucker for sob stories of people fighting power, and don’t know any of the facts. Shut up ian, ok.

Someone wants to protect their career, I imagine – or several people. Why not feed a friendly nurse to the wolves and keep the salary cheques rolling?

  3. ian says:

After a brief search for info. I am far from convinced she did it. The media were crying for blood as always, and wanting her hung drawn and quartered. Her friend says she still believes she’s innocent. After never missing a day of the trial, her mother claimed they couldn’t be serious, re the verdict. Surely if it had been strong, she would have expected it, BUT, and it’s a big but, according the the media, the most damning piece of evidence, was a post it note with , ” I am evil, it was me who did it”, written on it supposedly in Letby’s handwriting. I don’t know about you, but I trust the police less than I trust Albert Bourla. It reminds of of the football strips found in a bin that convicted Huntly, and if that was considered the most damning evidence, then there couldn’t have been much more.

    I agree Tap

This story was suspicious to me. It ran at the top of the beeb site for 7 straight days. Which makes

    • pete fairhurst 2 says:

      Damn phone, I’m away….

Furthermore the whole sentencing day was bizarre. With the sentencing televised! At least according to the beeb. Since when were British courts televised? Not possible is it?

And lots of wailing and gnashing of teeth in court by the relatives before sentencing. Ridiculous, the judge decides based on law not relatives wailing surely

And Letby “refused to attend”! What? She’s in nick isnt she, she can’t refuse can she?

So is any of this real? It makes me wonder. The whole business stinks to high heaven

      • pete fairhurst 2 says:

Her not attendance was suspicious. Means that nobody in court saw her on that day. How does that make any sense?

Until I see something more convincing I’m assuming the whole thing is false

Remember Drummer Rigby at Woolwich? Chi’s Spivey totally exposed that operation. But it went through a British “court” nonetheless. At least according to the media it did. And we all know how accurate and reliable they are don’t we ?

  5. Tapestry says:

So the whole thing is fake? Including the nurse? That hadn’t even occurred to me, but why not? The previous attempts to stitch up innocent nurses with multiple killings to cover over bad batches of medicines etc fell through in court. So this time, just make a movie. That would make more sense than anything else. The media is beyond a farce now.

    • pete fairhurst 2 says:

      Beyond a farce indeed

Its possible Tap. I don’t know for sure but it certainly doesn’t add up for me. Total fake is a definite possibility

  6. ian says:

Total fake seems unlikely to me. Hanging another poor sucker out to dry seems far more likely. After more or less a year in court she won’t know what day of the week it is. They’ve done it to so many.

    • pete fairhurst 2 says:

You could well be correct Ian

But I’ve listed lots of clues up above. Questions that need answers if I’m going to believe the official story

Eg televised British courts? That’s not possible is it, not allowed for obvious reasons

Wouldn’t appear in court for sentencing? What, how does that work when she’s in custody, it’s not her choice surely? Whenever have “worst ever serial killers” had that option?

So Tap’s thought makes good sense to me. A movie script, a total fake, absolutely no possible blowback. Nice and clean, into the history books, no possible repercussions, no messy real people involved at all

It’s all speculation of course but my monies on that for now. I don’t expect to know for certain any time soon either

      • ian says:

Yes of course Pete, the whole thing seems odd, so anything could be true, and how would we ever find out. I’m just a sucker for people in trouble, and she looks ordinary to me, certainly not Vlad the impaler, but Tap and you are very likely correct.
