Military hardware requires huge maintenance; a tank needs 3 hours maintenance for every one hour on the field; military vehicles need to be able to communicate with one another; the F16 planes will be a disaster for Ukraine; they need special airfields cleared of all debris, etc etc. Scott shares much military procedure that one seldom hears.
Prior to the fall of the Soviet Union, the US had well-educated Russian specialists who had a reasonable understanding of the Russian language, culture, history. After 1991, however, they were swept aside and replaced with the current lot whose intent was and is not to understand Russia, but to MANAGE Russia.
