Hosting Upgrade Appeal

The Tap has become increasingly busy over the last few weeks with many more visitors and sign ups. It's currently creaking and slowing. We need a hosting account upgrade to help cope with the increased activity and keep this free blog online. It would be sad to lose it but it costs to keep it going and free to use. If any of you can help donate even a small amount towards the hosting upgrade that would be a big help. Thank you. Click here to donate

NAC is a supplement which aids the body’s production of glutathione, which is important in supporting the body’s natural immunity.  Therefore one of the prime supplements recommended for preventing or recovering from flu and what is called Covid.

The United States Food & Drug Administration has announced that the highly popular NAD+ longevity supplement ingredient NMN or beta-nicotinamide mononucleotide can no longer be sold as a dietary supplement in the US.

This news will come a surprise to many, as the FDA hadn’t previously objected to the use of NMN in dietary supplements, and a wide variety are currently available for purchase in the US.

The news also comes off the back of the FDA announcing that the other popular supplement NAC or N-acetyl-L-cysteine would also be excluded from being a dietary supplement

Benefits of NAC

  • Improved immune health. There aren’t many studies on NAC and the immune system, but current research suggests that it and glutathione may help to improve your immune function.
  • Healthy Brain Function. NAC helps to replenish glutathione levels in the body. It also aids in regulating glutamate. These functions may help to improve brain health and benefit people with conditions such Parkinsons.
  • Improvement in Fertility. NAC may help to improve fertility in both men and women. One study found that men supplementing with both NAC and selenium experienced an increase in semen quality. NAC may also help to improve fertility in women with PCOS.
