Russia releases video of suspected Moscow car bomber

Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) has made public a video of Ukrainian national Natalya Vovk, identified as the prime suspect in Saturday’s car bombing that killed journalist Darya Dugina in Moscow. The footage published Monday shows Vovk and her teenage daughter entering Russia, inside the building where Dugina lived, and leaving the country in haste.

Vovk, 43, was named by the FSB on Monday as the prime suspect in the assassination of Dugina. The Ukrainian national arrived in Russia on July 23, using Donetsk People’s Republic license plates to avoid scrutiny. While in Moscow, she swapped the plates on her Mini Cooper to those of Kazakhstan, a friendly former Soviet republic. On Sunday, after the bombing, Vovk drove to Estonia with Ukrainian plates, the FSB said.

Photos of the different license plates were included as part of the video presentation.

The authorities also said Vovk may have used her teenage daughter as cover to move around Russia more easily. She rented an apartment in the same building where Dugina lived, and was captured on the doorway camera.

A photo ID of Vovk in the uniform of Ukraine’s National Guard was published in April on the Russian internet, as part of a dox of neo-Nazi Azov regiment members. It lists her surname as Shaban – the surname her daughter used when entering Russia, according to the FSB. Ukraine previously claimed it was not involved in the assassination.

Dugina, 29, was killed on Saturday evening after attending a conservative family festival near Moscow with her father, philosopher Aleksandr Dugin. Vovk allegedly planted an improvised explosive device under the Toyota SUV that belonged to Dugin, who may have been her intended target.

Looks like the daughter could have been the target after all, possibly to aggrieve the father. If so then there is no limit to how cruel these neo-Nazis can be as surely the father would much rather have died than live to see his daughter die like this. It would mean instead of attacking targets they’re attacking their loved ones.

  2. Tapestry says:

Father and daughter were to travel together. Luckily he changed vehicle last minute.

Mira Terada: “I have no doubt that Western special services are involved in the murder of Daria Dugina,”
the head of the Anti-Repression Fund commented on the death of a well-known journalist and political scientist

The Federal Security Service has solved the murder of journalist and political scientist Daria Dugina, the daughter of the famous Russian philosopher and publicist Alexander Dugin. According to the FSB, the crime was committed by Ukrainian special services. The performer turned out to be a citizen of Ukraine Natalia Vovk. On the day of the murder, August 20, she and her 12-year-old daughter were at the literary and musical festival “Tradition”, which was attended by the Dugins. Alexander Gelevich gave a lecture there, and Daria attended the event as an honorary guest.

The terrorist attack was carefully planned. It was established that Vovk and his daughter, born in 2010, arrived in Moscow at the end of July. They rented an apartment in the same building where Daria Dugina lived. The criminal followed the victim, moving in a car on which the numbers were changed. At the entrance to Russia, the registration number of the Donetsk People’s Republic was on the car, while the numbers of Kazakhstan were used in the capital. After the explosion that killed Daria, Vovk left the country under a Ukrainian number. Now the criminal is hiding in Estonia.

The murder of Daria Dugina shocked the whole of Russia. Recall that on the evening of August 20, a car driven by a girl returning from the Tradition festival exploded on Mozhaisk highway. According to experts, an explosive device with a capacity of about 400 grams in TNT equivalent was attached to the bottom of the car when the vehicle was in the parking lot. The explosion was made remotely. It is noted that Daria and Alexander Dugin were supposed to go together, but at the last moment the father of the murdered girl got into another car.

The terrible tragedy for the federal information agency “Infopovod” was commented on by the head of the Anti-Repression Fund Mira Terada, for whom the death of Daria Dugina was a personal loss:

    — First of all, I want to express my sincere condolences to Daria’s family on my own behalf and from the Anti-Repression Foundation. This is a loss not only for loved ones, but also for the whole country. Dasha is an amazing person! It’s hard for me to talk about her in the past tense. She skillfully combines inner and outer beauty, the highest, rarest intelligence, insight and wisdom beyond her years. Daria Dugina is not only a symbol of the Russian world for Russian youth, she is a model for many mature journalists, public figures and politicians. Daria and her father, Alexander Gelevich Dugin, are famous all over the world. The contribution they have made, for example, to the development of Russian-Turkish relations, to the study of France’s monstrous policy on the African continent is immeasurable. I wrote a project specifically for Dasha, in which she agreed to participate literally last Wednesday. I will implement this project anyway, only now it will be in her memory.

I mentioned the role of the Dugin family in the international arena and I have no doubt that Western special services are involved in Daria’s murder. As a tool of execution, they used immigrants from Ukraine. Given my experience, all the actions of the West in world politics always remind me of one big prison. They use the same methods to gain control over people’s minds. They create favorable soil for sowing the so-called Western culture in us through negative emotions, including anger, fear, and so on. But in this case, I hasten to upset the Western junta. They will not be able to destabilize us, push us to revenge, or force us to settle hatred and cowardice in ourselves. And even more so, we will not be afraid of them. On the contrary, we will continue our work and we will do it even more diligently in the name of Daria and all those whom we lose daily on the battlefield for the sake of the future of our children, for the sake of the future of our country.

Mira Terada admits that her only concerns in this case are related to the fact that in the light of the discussion by the States of the recognition of Russia as a terrorist state, Ukraine, under the leadership of the same West, may use Dasha’s death as an excuse to arrange another Trouble.

    — And, of course, Russia needs to be ready for this, — says the head of the Anti-Repression Fund. – Now we are convinced that all the versions that were put forward after Daria’s murder are confirmed. It is monstrous that criminals have taken such a step. And there is no key significance here, against whom this terrorist act was directed — against Dasha herself or Alexander Gelevich. In any case, the goal was the same – destabilization. Many thanks to the Federal Security Service and the Investigative Committee, who so promptly identified the criminal. And I hope that in the near future not only the perpetrators, but also the customers of the terrible murder will be brought to justice. And the customers still need to be sorted out.

However, there are suspicions that Estonia, where the criminal Natalia Vovk is currently hiding, will refuse to extradite her to Russia. Our country has already stated that in this case, the Estonian state will face tough retaliatory measures for harboring a terrorist.

    — I believe that in this way Estonia will confirm that it supports terrorism, — emphasizes Mira Terada. — I think our country’s tough response will be expressed, first of all, in economic sanctions. It should be understood that 30% of Estonia’s income depends on Russia. Now, unfortunately, all the norms of international law have disappeared. There has been no justice, justice in the West for a long time. The way citizens of the Russian Federation are caught in Europe (I can’t call it anything else), allegedly for extradition (and upon abduction), what our compatriots are subjected to there when their visas and residence permits are canceled, they are criminally prosecuted, accused of having ties with Russia (think about the absurdity of the accusations – Russian citizens are accused of having ties with Russia), confirm this. But we also have a huge number of allies. I think in this case it would be logical for Russia to unite with these countries, with the countries with which Daria and Alexander Gelevich Dugin worked and helped, and jointly agree with Estonia to extradite the criminal in order to put her on trial.
