I took, ‘the peasants up country’, as a slight. English people, not all I know, but enough, regard northerners, Scots, Welsh, Irish, and rural people more generally, as stupid peasants. Due to white flight, we are starting to see a bigger influx than normal of some of these Southerners. Generally speaking, they move in, then join every committee going to such a degree that locals are often absent. They then do their best to change things. What’s not to love. OK sour grapes, I know, and I get on well with some of them. They are better too, than Mr Duncan from around the corner.
