Perhaps this is one reason for the high number of desertions/surrenders from the Ukrainian side, especially those said to be being sent to the front ill-trained and ill-equipped. This really is like a holocaust. It would appear it would also reduce the number of R soldiers actually in combat and thus reduce their losses?
It would certainly be terrible to be on the receiving end, and the Russians seem to fire then move, so they’ll lose very few troops, I would imagine.
