What’s this all about? Another strange maritime event.

Fears for missing British tanker in North Sea as it fails to check in for AN HOUR (msn.com)

TAP – ‘fails to check in’?  What about an emergency call?

Is it a tanker as in the headline?  Or an emergency response vessel as in the body of the text?

This is yet more news that makes no sense.

It seems the MSN reporter has done a poor job indeed.

Grampian Commander is a SAR / oil rig support vessel not as reported a tanker.

It hasn’t sunk as rumoured in the report.

    Vessel’s Local Time:
    2022-06-04 06:46 LT UTC

    Area: UKC – North Sea

    Current Port: –

    Latitude / Longitude: 58.44627° / -0.23103°

    Status: Stopped

    Speed/Course: 0.4 kn / 188 °

    AIS Source: 1313

Ship is just over 1000T SAR vessel which seems to be tracking back & forth. Perhaps looking for something or perhaps standing by a nearby rig its role. See map / tracking data here

Nearby is the Claymore A gas rig

Imagine the trauma caused if the crew’s wives saw this report. Reporter Teresa Gottein Martinez should be fired for her incompetence.

Good research/analysis there sovereigntea. I read the full report and thought that the journo was useless too. I had to look up Mizen Head and Fraserburgh before I realised that they were completely unconnected

I thought that the report was maybe written by a computer, it was so poor. So is Martinez even a real person? Who knows but, if she is then, she’s a piss poor “journalist”

      • sovereigntea says:

Martinez is in her early 20s

I guess someone at The Express has told her to try harder….

Teresa is a News Reporter on Express.co.uk. Half Austrian, half Spanish, her roots often push her towards stories about European affairs and how these intertwine with life and politics in the UK.

Half the post is missing especially the link. Tampering to cover up. Great research from comments.
