Recent elections in the Philippines have paved the way for Chinese-Philippine relations to continue growing. Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has expressed a desire to work with China more closely and resolve disputes bilaterally without US interference. Already, the US is backing attempts to question the outcome of the election which saw its candidate of choice, Leni Rebredo lose. The Philippines is one of America’s primary targets for militarization in both a proxy war with China as well as a direct US war with China.
