First half is visuals; second half listening to residents of a small city.

At the outset the people Patrick encounters are quite nervous about speaking, particularly the young people who have grown up under Ukrainian jurisdiction, but become less so in the course of their conversations. The populace has endured dreadful deprivation of which the older are more willing to speak. They are unsure about what is the better direction for their future as not all seem to feel “Russian” so do not know what being “Russian” would mean.
