Miles Mathis compared photographs of pre-war Dresden with post-war Dresden and found no difference, and the buildings were not new. As with all ‘news’, all you know is that someone told you of something. Only if you were there in person do you actually know. The firebombing of Germany happened and Dresden was one of them and just about the worst as the war was lost with Dresden jam-packed with fleeing refugees.

The initial attack is designed to cause as much death and destruction as inhumanly possible but that is just for starters.
Once the emergency services move in to help and save who they can, the next wave of terror arrives to deal with them as well. But there’s more.
Once that second wave has done its stuff, along comes the third wave to mop up what’s left, including zoo animals like giraffes etc, along with what’s left of humanity cowering on riverbanks thinking they might just be safe there.

Indeed they do Aldous. Trouble is, it seems that real history like the happenings in Dresden that you recalled, have to be looked for with intent to find the truth. Unfortunately most get their history from Hollywood and TV. Our leaders =Good, Enemy of the month=Bad.

Thanks pete. Interesting. Not trying to be disrespectful, but I’m not a fan of Miles Mathis. He claims everything is fake. I’m sure that the British government would like it to be fake, but I still think that it was real. There are films from the bombers showing the firestorm on the ground, and who exactly would have faked it in the first place. Hellstorm shows a quite convincing take on it too. Obviously no one who wasn’t there can be 100% on what occurred but I’m still on the firestorm side.
Nothing disrespectful about having a different view Ian, we are all entitled to that. I’m not saying Mathis is correct, this is one of his weaker arguments I think. He has done much more convincing stuff on other subjects
But his paper does make me wonder just how much of this official Dresden history is real. How would we know anyway, the official history is always written by the winners isn’t it. And the winners in war usually have a lot to hide, or distort
The first casualty of war is always the truth. Just look at the Ukraine conflict, lies, lies and more lies, all round. As Tap says the only reliable witnesses are the ones actually there. Even then there is no way to really know. Images are not real, they are just pixels in computers. They can easily be made to show what the propagandist wants to show to make his case. The Bucha bodies are just bodies in the street. No way to know if they were actually dead, never mind who killed them if they were
I agree pete. You can’t know anything for sure about these things. I’m busy re-reading the Quintinshill Conspiracy, a book that asks many questions about the incident that were never asked at the official enquiry. It makes fascinating reading. The Quintinshill area where it happened is only half a mile or so from where I live. We are constantly assessing and rethinking information, and it never gets boring.
BTW I’m referring to the Quintinshill rail disaster from WW1.
