Michael Deakin will now be on the sex offenders’ register for the rest of his life

A depraved pervert has been jailed for a decade for a string of crimes, including sexually abusing a three-year-old girl. The court heard how the 56-year-old Staffordshire man performed a sex act on the toddler, and took a picture of it taking place.
The man, who will now be on the sex offenders’ register for the rest of his life, also abused a teenage girl and made her take her clothes off so he could take photographs of her.
A third victim was aged between nine and 10 when the defendant asked her to pose while he took pictures. He also watched her having a bath.
Police seized the defendant’s digital camera and computer when they arrested him. The devices were found to contain more than 11,000 indecent images including nearly 3,500 classed as category A – the most serious.
Michael Deakin, of Niall Road, Hanford, in Stoke, pleaded guilty to three offences of making indecent photographs of children; causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity; two offences of taking indecent photos of children; assaulting a child under 13; sexual assault of a child under 13; and voyeurism.
Jason Holt, mitigating, said: “He is beginning to accept some of the motivations behind his offending. He appears to show some remorse. He is willing to work with the probation service to address his behaviour.”
Jailing Deakin, Judge David Fletcher said: “This catalogue of offences represents a pattern of depraved behaviour over a lengthy period of time. The making of some of the images goes back to 2004. “The overall picture presented is one of a man who really has sunk to the depths of depravity over a number of years. You performed a sex act on a very young child indeed. That is a very worrying and concerning aspect of this behaviour.”
Deakin was also made the subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and he will be on the sex offenders’ register for the rest of his life.
