Russia walks out of United Nations Security Council meeting after US Ambassador Powers doesn’t listen when Russian negotiator is talking

Why is the US bombing Syrian troops during a ceasefire?  Ambassador Powers did not even listen to what the Russian negotiator had to say?  He walked out after being ignored. This is getting dangerous.  How much provocation can Russia tolerate before responding?   Does the US want a war with Russia?

Perhaps the Russians should try talking to the Australian Ambassador.  Australian jets were involved.

Hypocrisy Beyond Classical‘: US-led Bombing of Syrian Army Wasn’t ‘Mistake’
While the Pentagon claimed that US coalition’s strikes on the Syrian Army in Deir ez-Zor was unintentional, Moscow and Damascus said that the attack has led to Daesh’s advance in the region. Sputnik spoke to political analyst and commentator on Middle Eastern affairs, Hafsa Kara-Mustapha.

“This is not a mistake and it can’t be, primarily because there cannot be a military exercise during an agreed ceasefire period. The American airplane had nothing to do flying over there at that time period when a ceasefire was agreed and officially announced,” Kara-Mustapha said. She added that the action was a violation of the agreed ceasefire, she also added that the US military is equipped with the best military hardware that can actually determine who is who and where. “It was abundantly clear that the targets were the official Syrian military. The idea of dismissing it as a mere mistake is ridiculous.”

Strikes on Syria Army Reveal Washington’s True Goals – Iranian Official

“What this has achieved is essentially giving ISIS [Daesh] an upper hand once again. They were surrounded; they were considerably weakened as a result of Syrian and Russian efforts and this latest American exercise killing 60 Syrian soldiers and injuring hundreds has actually given ISIS the upper hand once again,” Kara-Mustapha said. She further spoke about the emergency UN session to discuss this which was called on by Russia and how the US ambassador to the UN called Russia’s effort as a “stunt.” “The idea that the [US] could actually violate the ceasefire and then complain of being the victims of a stunt is a hypocrisy beyond classical,” the analyst said.

She further spoke about the dishonesty and how blatant the US is in pointing fingers at others. “This is a nation that has been dishonest in its dealings with the Middle East for nearly a century now.” She further said, “We have seen the results of American intervention in Iraq, it resulted in the creation of ISIS and we know that many of ISIS figureheads were nurtured and brought up in camps. What is resurfacing from this is the complicity between ISIS and the US which is becoming far more obvious to all,” the analyst said. Kara- Mustapha said that what was dismissed as conspiracy two to three years ago now is becoming quite obvious and that is that Daesh’s interest and the US interest converge. According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, two F-16 fighter jets and two A10 ground attack aircraft entered Syrian airspace from Iraq and launched airstrikes on Syrian government troops near the Deir ez-Zor airport, leaving at least 62 Syrian servicemen killed and more than 100 wounded.

The US-led coalition air strikes on the Syrian Army positions near the eastern city of Deir ez-Zor borders between “gross negligence” and “direct assistance” to ISIS militants, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

“The coalition pilots’ actions – if they, as we hope, were not ordered by Washington – were on the edge between gross negligence and direct assistance to Islamic State [IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL] terrorists,” the ministry’s statement said.

The air strike that killed 62 Syrian soldiers outside the eastern city of Deir ez-Zor on Saturday was “inevitable given the stubborn refusal by the US to cooperate with Russia in combatting IS, Jabhat al-Nusra and other affiliated terrorist groups,” it states.

The air strikes against the Syrian Army’s positions were conducted by two F-16 fighter jets and two A-10 ground attack aircraft, the Russian Defense Ministry said earlier on Saturday. Syrian SANA news agency reported than an Islamic State offensive started shortly after Syrian Army positions were attacked from the air.

Russia is gravely concerned by the fact that the air strikes took place amid multiple documented cases of the nationwide ceasefire being violated by the Syrian rebels, the Foreign Ministry added.

“Again, we call on Washington to put pressure on the US-controlled militants to ensure that they respect the ceasefire conditions. Otherwise, the entire set of Russia-US arrangements made in Geneva on September 9 might be endangered, which is contrary to the interests of the international community.”

Australian aircraft were involved in a US-led coalition operation which killed dozens of Syrian soldiers who were apparently mistaken for Islamic State fighters, the Defence Department has confirmed.

Between 62 and 83 Syrian soldiers who had been fighting IS militants were reportedly killed in the air strikes around the Deir al-Zor military airport in Syria’s east.

“Australian aircraft were among a number of international aircraft taking part in this Coalition operation,” the Defence Department said in a statement.

“Australia would never intentionally target a known Syrian military unit or actively support Daesh (IS). Defence offers its condolences to the families of any Syrian personnel killed or wounded in this incident.”

The Russian military earlier said two F-16s and two A-10 jets that flew into Syrian airspace from neighbouring Iraq carried out the actual attack. Neither type is listed as being in operation with the RAAF.

The strikes came less than a week into a fragile ceasefire aimed at stopping the bloodshed in Syria’s five-year civil war, as Russia accused what it termed “moderate rebels” of causing the truce to fail.
