The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) is still Modernize its Unit but  they will be focus on internal Security Threat incoming AFP chief-of-staff Lt. Gen. Ricardo Visaya said in Press conference

General Visaya said President Duterte would like to see the improvement of (AFP) by Buying Equipment for internal security like Armed Helicopters and Fast Craft

Such platforms are useful in dealing with the country’s ongoing campaign against the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) and New People’s Army threats.

Visaya said acquisition of equipment are included in the AFP Modernization Program as emphasized by the procurement of the night-capable AW-109 attack helicopters of the Philippine Air Force and Philippine Navy

The lack of Modern Helicopter and Patrol Boats Inflict the military response when the ASG attacked Samal Island and kidnapped Canadians nationals, Norwegian National and one Filipina

Visaya also clarified that modernization program for External Threats will continue but the Equipment for internal security operations will be prioritized.
