This Saturday’s national demonstration against the renewal of Trident nuclear weapons, organised by CND and supported by Stop the War Coalition, is promising to be one of the most significant political events this year.
The money which would be squandered on Trident renewal (around £100 billion) would be enough to fully fund A&E services for 40 years, employ 150,000 new nurses, build 1.5 million affordable homes, build 30,000 new primary schools, or cover tuition fees for 4 million students. The government should focus on real human security and the well-being of the population instead of directing public resources towards futile, illegal and immoral weapons of mass destruction.
27th February will be a massive show of opposition to this threat to humanity.
