There’s a lesson here for all of us

Battling with authority is just like this.  They’re used to their victims just rolling over without a fight.  Here the apparently weaker party refuses to back down, and the powerful stronger party eventually decides it’s not worth the bother, and walks away.  It’s amazing how far you can get taking on  seemingly impossible odds if you’re sure of your cause and totally determined not to concede under any circumstances.  Remember this little fellow and how he fought his corner.  Are you fighting yours?

the less likely winner of a fight has little to lose socially. If he fights and loses he is respected, if he wins he’s a hero. The favourite is only fulfilling expectations by winning, and is shamed by loss, and thus has more to lose, and less to gain from the fight.
