Does anyone else find the cyclone which hit Vanuatu a little bit suspicious?
It apparently ‘veered’ off it’s predicted course to devastate the group of islands.
Fortunately a British doctor was there on ‘holiday’ and was able to tell the BBC all about it.
Naturally aid is getting in through a quick response from the EU and Britain, because although the airport is of course damaged and is closed to civil traffic, military planes can land.
And of course Oxfam are on the spot, and there will be orphans to take care of.
I’m sure Australia’s Tony Abbot will take a keen interest.
Maybe with reconstruction there will be loans offered (with strings), and maybe military ‘assistance’ will become permanent.
After all Vanuatu is a little bit strategic for all those interested in ‘pivoting around the Pacific’.
