We just heard of a relative’s schoolfriend in Manila. She had a yaya or nanny with nine brothers and sisters in Tacloban. All her brothers and sisters were lost in the tsunami bar two, and her parents. One sibling was in Samar and the other in Manila, and they escaped. We are sending the nanny £30 so she can hold a mass for her lost family, which she wants to do.
A Tap reader sent forty pounds last week to my wife, after asking me how she could send money to help people, and I sent her my wife’s bank details. She used to work for a big charity and knows what a waste of time giving money to those is. Her money was given to a 15 year old girl whose mother died in Tacloban, and she wanted to go home to see her mother’s body.
Today the same reader sent another forty pounds, which we will send to a church in Tacloban where we know the money will be used to help people affected by the tragedy. We also donated to this church ourselves last week.
It’s a drop in the ocean, but your heart goes out to these poor people who have been attacked in such a pitiless manner by the evil monsters currently running our world.
