This is how he was at the start aged 38 on the Terry Wogan Show, when he was totally ridiculed by the public, but he kept going for twenty years, and has made the ridicule into a part of the David Icke brand. He has noticeably changed his tone from a predominantly spiritual commentator into a predominantly political commentator.
I see him as a channel rather than a source, and a great channel at that. He is fearless, incredibly energetic and attacks and attacks. In the Wogan rematch, it was Terry who ran for the commercials, and Icke who was applauded. What a difference the intervening years had made!
