Atlas Shrugged – The Movie – Opens In April

The novel Atlas Shrugged is the best-selling book in America.  Written fifty four years ago, it portrays a world of corruption and power, which no individual can fight against.  It’s taken Hollywood all that time to get around to making the movie.  As the power of the big corporations and big government reaches an all-time historical high, driving nations into convenient groupings, where they can be controlled and subjugated, the telling of the Atlas Shrugged story is due.  Will people finally start to understand what kind of world they are living in, and have been living in a very long time, and in their awakening, start to resist and demand something better?

Nahh!  Course they won’t.  This will be a way for them to say, ”you mean, like that movie, Atlas Shrugged.  Well that’s only a movie.  You’re not living in the real world.”  More managed dissent coming up, is my guess.

How might this link with the USA/Canada border agreement of 4 February 2011, which hardly anyone seems to have heard about? But which was so important that most USA ambassadors were recalled to base for briefing at about that date.

Not sure. Another factor not mentioned is the stabilisation of the Canadian Dollar with the US dollar at parity for more than one month.

But then so has the Aussie dollar stabilised at parity at the same time.

Could these facts all be related?

Are there any UK screenings of this, or some internet stream?

  4. Tapestry says:

Release date is April 15th 2011 in the USA. Not sure about the UK.

It’s only a Part 1, a low budget movie, costing $15m with no stars demanding big pay to show up.

Jackson did Lord of the Rings in three long films, and still left one hell of a lot out.

‘Atlas Shrugged’ is 1069 pages long in small typeface. It took me a couple of weeks to read, and I wanted more at the end.

Don’t be lazy – forget any film – read the book.

  6. Tapestry says:

    you might do both….

  7. Stuart Fairney says:

Derek, yep, read it along with fountainhead and a brilliant collection of her essays called “Return of the primitive” where she predicts the rise and rise of environmentalism with all it’s destructive consequences.
